Glide Jig Tweak for Better Hookups and Less Fouling
Pro walleye angler Korey Sprengel is a huge fan of gliding jigs for both walleyes and bass. He shares a fast and easy modification to reduce fouling and improve hooking percentages with this unique lure category. Counter to their incredible fish-triggering ability, gliding jigs are notorious for losing fish given the small belly treble and heavy lure weight. Sprengel recommends upsizing the stock hooks for larger ones, but this can increase fouling against the bait when the treble swings freely around. His modification solves this problem by fixing the belly treble hook in place, keeping the hook exposed to fish and preventing it from snagging against the bait. And the process requires nothing more than pliers and a piece of soft plastic!
