Officine Panerai: Jupiterium, the Planetarium Clock

The Panerai Jupiterium is a planetarium-clock with perpetual calendar which, by re-creating the geocentric viewpoint of the heavens, Galileo Galilei’s viewpoint on the Earth, shows the positions of the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter with the so-called Medicean moons, that is, the planet’s four main satellites, observed for the first time by Galileo Galilei in 1610 thanks to his invention of the telescope. With this extraordinary clockplanetarium, Officine Panerai is paying tribute to the founder of modern science and to the man who, with his studies concerning the pendulum, opened the way for precision horology.
