Join us Saturday 3 June 2023 for the global premiere livestream of the best 25 straight 8 films of 2023. 8pm London Time (GMT 1) These are the best 25 films of over 160 entries to straight 8 2023. Each film is made on just one roll of super 8, edited only in-camera with no post-production of any kind. Each shot is taken in story order, with no opportunity for retakes. Entrants then create an original soundtrack ’blind’ without having seen their film. straight 8 processes the films at Cinelab Film Digital in London and lines up sound to the first frame of picture, before making selections. For some of the filmmakers featured in this collection, who were not present at the London cinema premiere in late May, this livestream premiere will be the very first time that they have seen their own film. These are the top 25 films of straight 8 2023, including the top 8 which premiered at Cannes Film Festival on May 22 2023. straight 8’s 25th year is open for entries now.
