Allegro con brio (27:35) Arturo Toscanini, conductor New York Philharmonic Orchestra Recorded on April 9/10, 1936 at Carnegie Hall, New York City This is our single most popular classical post on this channel. But five years of restoration improvement technology and superior sourcing have brought us back to revisit it again. If you liked our prior post of this, you are certain to like this one. It has more dynamic range, is punchier, and has a great deal more presence than its predecessor. No worries, the prior post will remain right where it is, but those for who want to take it to the next level of fidelity; here it is. The 1936 recording is Toscanini at his best on record and it gets even better; we intend to revisit most of his recordings with the Philharmonic from 1929 and 1936. Although every effort to reduce surface noise has been made, some must remain for the sake of fidelity.
