Rita George-Tvrtkovic: Mary in the Qur’an (and the Bible)

In this episode I speak with Professor Rita George-Tvrtkovic of Benedictine College about Mary in the Qur’an. She is the author of “Christians, Muslims, and Mary: A History“ published by Paulist Press in 2018. Professor George Tvrtkovic has a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and has worked extensively in Christian-Muslim relations and contemporary interreligious dialogue. She is the former associate director of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office for Eccumenical and Interreligious Affairs and she has also been appointed by Pope Francis to be consulted for the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. We discuss Mary in the Qur’an and the Bible, devotions to Mary, the question of her prophethood in Muslim tradition as well as how she influences contemporary dialogue between Christians and Muslims.
