In this week’s video I am diving deep into my new favourite book aka Donna Tartt’s The Secret History (yes I am aware that I am becoming a walking stereotype), attempting to do a bit of literary analysis and breaking down for you guys some of the cool Classical elements infused throughout Tartt’s writing! I cover the origins of the novel’s name, its unusual Greek-Tragedy-esque structure, the ancient concept of pretty privilege, Richard’s unreliability as a narrator, my disappointment in the Macauley twins and how my own experience as a Classics student at Oxford potentially relates to that of Richard’s... I really enjoyed filming this video and getting these ideas out of my system, especially as it means I can actually now focus on my summer work instead!
