“Creator“ Out Now! Gert Taberner unearths life’s most formative experiences and feelings under a glow of eloquent song craft, unfiltered lyricism, robust instrumentation, and cinematic production. Life took a series of unexpected twists and turns for Taberner in 2020. His father passed away from lung cancer in May of that year. A year later, his mother faced a terminal cancer diagnosis as well and succumbed to the disease in 2022. Says Taberner, “A lot of this EP is about the fractured relationship I had with my dad,” he sighs. “He wasn’t a particularly good guy, and he was very emotionally abusive. He was a narcissist, and he didn’t care about how his actions affected others. We’re all destined to turn into our parents. ‘Creator’ is my way of dealing with those fears.”
