DAWless Setup: Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin, Korg MS-20 (mini), Behringer Solina String Ensemble, Behringer Model D, Korg ModWave, KeyStep Pro (MIDI). Effect chains: Strymon TimeLine into TC Electronics Hall of Fame into Strymon Mobius (2600 Blue Marvin), Strymon BigSky (Shimmer with pitch-shifting) into Meris Polymoon (Solina) into the Soma Cosmos (AUX1 - MS-20 & Solina), Model-D is being patched into the EXT Signal In on the MS-20, but has it’s output being sent directly to a mixer channel so it doesn’t pass through the Soma Cosmos (MS-20 EXT Signal overdrive & Band Pass Filter), Midas DM16 (Mixer), Tascam DR-40 (recording). As things improve a little at a time, I’m exploring more. I’m getting to know the band members a little bit better and finally venture deeper into cross patching the semi-modular patch points. I love the overdrive and band pass filter on the MS-20. Another reason I love it. For the money (bought it used a year before Covid), it’s the best buy I’ve ever had. I’m always inspired when I’m patient with sound design using it. Not as much with the Model-D. I also patched the MS-20 mod wheel into the VCF on the 2600. I found the envelope setup between them using the patch points there a joy to play. Had a nice feel and I could easily dial back the arpeggio on the 2600 and get some finesse for performing with the effect chain once I got to know it. Overall, I really like the way it turned out. The effect chains are starting to gell and see patterns. I’ve settled on the pedal chain for the 2600 Blue Marvin, so I’m really using inserts, but “faking it“ with the patch bay and just patching things in line instead of actually buying two insert cables. I also like how the ModWave meshed with the whole performance in this one. I liked it as a nice topping to the cake. I still want to get samples made and set things up on the Digitakt too, but for now I felt more like I was a playing an instrument using it in this one. Well, it’s another end of a year.
