Mozart’s Mitridate: “Son reo, l’error confesso“

An excerpt from a film (1986) by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle of Mozart’s first opera seria “Mitridate, re di Ponto“, composed when Mozart was just in 14 years old. Farnace, the older son of Mitridate, the king of Pontus, is here sung by a Norwegian alto Anne Gjevang. The role was originally composed for a castrate. The Concentus Musicus Wien was conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Available in DVD (DGG 2006).
