Listen now: This video is an ode to humanity: a tribute to those who push us forward as a people. It’s a reminder that we’re capable of achieving great things: by leaning on the accomplishments of those who came before us, but also harnessing the passion, imagination, and determination of those who see great things ahead. This new recording of ’Sogno di Volare’ is performed by the Royal Opera Chorus, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Anna Lapwood on organ. We recorded it at Abbey Road with William Spaulding conducting the ROC, and me conducting the RPO. I’m immensely excited about it, and I hope you all love it as well! It’s the first track on my new album ’To Shiver the Sky’, an oratorio about the history of humankind’s quest to conquer the stars. Lyrics are an adaptation of Leonardo da Vinci’s writings on flights, with help from my friend Chiara Cortez. The piece was originally composed as the theme song for the video game Civilization VI.
