Boarding Axe / Hatchet and Dagger sparring Nick vs Joan

Something a little different for you. We don’t train with hatchets/axes, but they are of course a famous contemporary tool and weapon of the sabre that we use. So this is a fun experiment and exhibition more than an attempt to reproduce an exact style. Saying that, many who would use such weapons would have been training sword styles similar to Roworth, so it might well be close. The Cold Steel tomahawks that we are using are quite close representations of the sort of boarding axe used on British ships, and others. Here we use them with daggers as offhand weapons, and you can see how difficult it is to place hits with this combination, and how brutal a fight it could be.
