The original Metroid was one of the most popular games on the NES, selling over 2.7 million copies - Enough to make it the 18th best selling game on the system! You’d think that Nintendo would want to get started on a sequel to such a successful game right away... but for some reason, they didn’t. Instead we had to wait FIVE YEARS for a sequel, and when Samus finally did return, she was battling Metroids on the Game Boy.
