Baroque clarinet: Steven Fox after J. G. Zencker, 1740–50. The clarinet is made of stained boxwood with two brass keys.
This is the kind of clarinet that Molter’s concertos would have been written for, and for which Telemann wrote.
Soprano Chalumeau: Brian Ackerman, 1990s. Boxwood with two brass keys. The chalumeau is another ancestor of the modern clarinet, which was in use in the early 18th century.
