Champion Girl Canoeist (1956)

Richmond, Surrey. Pat Moody walks alongside River Thames in Richmond past people sitting in deck chairs. (Commentary says it’s Richmond Park but pretty sure it can’t be if the river is in shot!). She enters boat shed and sign says Richmond Canoe Club. M/S Pat emerges holding canoe dressed in white shorts and top. She carries canoe down to the Thames at Richmond Pier. Pat sets off in the water in her kayak (Narration says she only started 15 months ago and not only won the British championship but knocked 12 seconds off the record). Point of view shot of Pat in kayak on Thames. (Sexist commentary “....if determination, hard training - and all our hopes - mean anything, then the pretty girl of Richmond Park may one day be champion of the world!“).
