Elizabethan Banquet (1967)

Kensington, London. At the Gore Hotel we see serving wenches preparing the Elizabethan banquet hall for diners; they set the tables, light candles, pour drinks and light the fire. Cut to the hall full of guests (in modern dress) who sit around the tables; the wenches tie serviettes around the male diners’ necks then bring in the food. Several shots of the authentic 16th century dishes and the people eating. A man pinches the bottom of a serving wench; she squeals and waggles her finger at the culprit. Another wench places a gold crown on a man’s head. The wenches hand out clay pipes and hold candles to light them for diners; an old couple try some snuff and sneeze (not very convincingly!). A wench drinks from a loving cup at the same time as the man in the crown, then kisses him. Note: see also CP 316 - ELIZABETHAN DINNER. Cuts exist - see separate record.
