Beynac, France

Beynac takes its name from someone who lived through the Barbarian Invasions of the 5th and 6th centuries. The suffix “--ac“ was added to the name of the rural landlords that lived there in the 3rd century A.D. From the end of the 14th century, Beynac was the seat of one of the four baronies of Périgord, along with Biron, Bourdeilles and Mareuil.
