“Broadway Rhythm“ ... Peter Kreuder mit seinen Solisten / Richard Himber (Berlin 1936/New York 1935)

“ Broadway Melody of 1936” featured legendary dancer Eleanor Powell in her first leading role for MGM. Robert Taylor co-starred as her romantic lead and the movie also featured performances by the singer Frances Langford as well Buddy Ebsen, Jack Benny and Una Merkel. The movie was a follow-up to the 1929 hit “Broadway Melody” yet did not retain any storylines or characters from that movie. Eleanor Powell dazzled audiences in spectacular tap dance numbers and she would also star in the two sequels “Broadway Melody of 1938” and “Broadway Melody of 1940”. Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed composed the songs for “Broadway Melody of 1936”. The movie featured songs such as “Broadway Rhythm”, “I’ve got a feeling you’re fooling” and especially “You are my lucky star”.
