Bach - WTC II Prelude and fugue no. 6 in D minor BWV 875 - Schornsheim | Netherlands Bach Society

A diptych with contrary motions. The prelude of BWV 875 from the Wohltemperirte Clavier II is a moto perpetuo of runs that rush at one another without colliding. The fugue juxtaposes fast and slow movements. All of this in the soccer stadium of FC Utrecht. Harpsichordist Christine Schornsheim about the choice for this location: “The prelude is a bit sportive and the fugue gives the feeling of different emotions and tempo - like in a good soccer match!“ We recorded Bach’s first book of the ’Wohltemperirte Clavier’ at the homes of 24 different musicians. For the second book, performed in its entirety by Christine Schornsheim, we chose 12 very different locations in Utrecht, to celebrate the 900th anniversary of our home city. Recorded for the project All of Bach on 13 February 2022 at Stadion Galgenwaard, Utrecht, the Netherlands.
