Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: : Saarkie could easily be described as Africa’s answer to the Go-Go’s, at least by popularity standards and remain the most successful all female band from that country. Hailing from Pretoria, South Africa the band began their reign in 2005 while still in high school, and originally were a quintet and spent several years perfecting their sound, before releasing their debut album in 2009, “Listen” would go on and prove to be a strong starting mark for Saarkie. The follow up to their debut, 2011’s “Indentiteit”, would solidify the band in their local music scene and gained them numerous praise for their ability to mix rock, pop and numerous other music styles, all the while projecting positive and relevant messages in the songwriting, excellent musical abilities and great harmonies.
