The Admiralty knew HMS Repulse wasn’t up to the job. Prime Minister Winston Churchill knew also. And yet, the Royal Navy was in such a dire position in 1941 - fighting in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean and now the Russian Convoys - that the veteran battlecruiser was sent to confront Japan.
