Simply Red - Angel (Official Video) - Aretha Franklin Cover ft. The Fugees

Official video for the lead single of Simply Red’s Greatest Hits album, 1996. This version of Angel was recorded in collaboration with The Fugees and the video was shot in New York City. The Fugees was an American hip hop group who rose to fame in the mid-1990s. Their repertoire included elements of hip hop, soul and Caribbean music, particularly reggae. The members of the group were rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean, rapper/singer/producer Lauryn Hill, and rapper/producer Pras Michel. Deriving their name from a shortening of the word “refugees“. The original version is a soul ballad recorded by American singer Aretha Franklin, co-produced with Quincy Jones and it originally appeared on Aretha’s 1973 album Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky).
