Tanto sospirero

The composer of this song, Pietro Paolo Bencini (1700-1755) is known principally as the Maestro di Cappella at the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and as the composer of a large number of sacred works of high merit. Most of his compositions sleep peacefully on the shelves of the library in Rome. Tanto sospirero (E’er will I sigh) is written in the most traditional style, and is a song of love.
