Philharmonia debuts Big Band

In November, the Royal Festival Hall hosted the inaugural after-hours performance of the Philharmonia’s Big Band as part of Let Freedom Ring: Celebrating the Sounds of America. Led by Bandleader Pete Long. The evening was brimming with dance and music featuring iconic tunes from Mary Lou Williams, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Sy Oliver, Lionel Hampton and Glen Miller. As we enter the concluding week of our Let Freedom Ring series, we continue to explore the creative interplay between classical music and jazz as we perform two more times featuring the talented singer Julia Bullock.
