Red Belcher and The Kentucky Ridgerunners - Dewdrops

You might call this Old Time Bluegrass, since there is a clawhammer banjo played here. This was recorded in 1948, and was one of the first Bluegrass recordings to feature a clawhammer banjo, since most people at this time were trying to play the newly innovative Scruggs style. Red I guess didn’t want to change. Too bad he didn’t make more recordings because he was killed in a car wreck in 1952, just five years after making his recording debut in 1948. The band here features Red on banjo, the Lilly Brothers (Bea and Everett) on guitar and mandolin, making their debut as well. Tex Logan (also his debut on the fiddle), Smiley Sutter on second guitar, and Don Kidwell on the bass.
