Marovantele, duduk, bass clarinet, chord zither - Andrew Cronshaw, Tigran Aleksanyan, Ian Blake

Marovantele, duduk and bass clarinet, with touches of chord zither and 5-string kantele. Andrew says, “The marovantele is a double-sided, double-strung kantele made for me by Kimmo Sarja in Finland (as was the 5-string electric kantele heard briefly here). The double-sided idea came from the Madagascan box-zither, marovany; I’d spent many happy tours around the world as sound engineer/tour manager with Malagasy band Tarika, whose instrumentation included the range of Malagasy stringed instruments: marovany, valiha, jejy-voatavo, kabosy.“ Andrew Cronshaw, Tigran Aleksanyan and Ian Blake are also members, with singer Sanna Kurki-Suonio, of the quartet SANS. CDs by Andrew Cronshaw, and by SANS, are available from the Cloud Valley website, and from , as well as the usual physical and on
