Marijana Mijanović & Krešimir Špicer - In Monteverdi’s Ulisse

Serbian contralto Marijana Mijanović singing Penelope’s aria Illustratevi, O Cieli! followed by a love duet with her husband, tenor Krešimir Špicer (Ulisse), Sospirato Mio Sole which concludes Claudio Monteverdi’s penultimate opera Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria. This performance was filmed in Théâtre de Jeu de Paume, Aix-en-Provence, France in 2002 with Les Arts Florissants conduced by William Christie. Penelope was Mijanović’s breaktrough role and really put her into the spotlight as one of the best interpreters of baroque music of our time.
