Gaur Maria Folk Dance of Chattisgarh AES Republic Day 2008

Thanks to a unique collaboration with the Government of India’s Ministry of Culture, Zonal Cultural Centres, Republic Day camp directors and choreographers of the public performances of the 30 troupes brought to Delhi from around the country each year, I (Sharon Lowen) was able to select several troupes to perform for the students of the American Embassy School, New Delhi for many years. The groups were divided into 3 rotating programs at the Talkatora Stadium and I selected groups: 1. that could perform at the school and then not be late for rehearsals, were not similar or repeats before 4-5 years, represented different regions of India and were not overly dependent on language to communicate. please visit my Sharon Lowen youtube channel and playlists for India in Education at the American Embassy School, New Delhi, Music and Dance of India for Children and Indian culture and dance for children and young adults Eventually other Delhi schools were also able to have these authentic traditional performances in their schools as well until these programs were curtailed in preparations for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and were subsequently not restarted. These were separate from the participants on floats during the Republic Day parade.
