Pelosi greets Trudeau, settle NBA wager

(20 Jun 2019) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and held a photo opportunity at Capitol Hill Thursday. Their meeting came after the Prime Minister met with President Donald Trump. Pelosi and Trudeau planned to discuss global security and trade, one day before the Speaker will bring to a vote a bill that would implement changes necessary to enact the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. Speaker Pelosi insists that changes are needed to generate Democratic support, and has appointed a working group to meet with United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on changes that would ease Democratic lawmakers’ concerns. During the photo opportunity, the two settled a bet on U.S. - Canada basketball.   The Canadian Toronto Raptors team beat the Golden State Warriors of the U.S. in the NBA championship.
