Gentle Genevieve With The Toothy Grin

The very beautiful Miss Genevieve is a Gould’s wattled bat and she was rescued off a 14th floor apartment patio by Paul. Microbats commonly fly into glass doors and windows and like Genevieve, they generally only need a couple of days in care before being released back to the wild. Weighing in at 11.8 grams, Genevieve is keeping me busy chopping the heads off her nightly mealworm feast before feeding them to her. Gould’s wattled bats feed on moths, cockroaches, katydids crickets, beetles and other bugs and they are fast fliers which can zoom along at up to 36 kilometres per hour.
