Lan Sizhui- Once Upon a December (Anastasia 1997) | The Untamed/ MDZS

So I’ve been meaning to make this for a really long time. I love the Anastasia movie and Once Upon a December is a song that always gets to me. Just realizing that the song fit Lan Sizhui’s storyline so well, as someone who had such a tragic childhood and lost all their memories of their family. The way he slowly gets his memories back of his time at the Burial Mounds and with Wei Wuxian fits this song so perfectly. “Far away, Long ago, Glowing dim as an ember, Things my heart Used to know Things it yearns to remember And a song someone sings Once upon a December” I tried to show parallels between scenes in which Sizhui has moments where he appears uncertain or is perhaps being reminded of events that occurred in the past, that happened to Wen Yuan. A recurring motif is obviously the grass butterfly, as well as the fact that the song Wangxian/ Wuji that Wei Ying plays sounds familiar to Sizhui in episode 1, because he either remembers hearing Wei Ying or Lan Zhan, or most
