Unfortunately Medtronics opening up their design files for their Puritan Bennett 560 Ventilator is not much more than a publicity stunt. Their press release claims ’“By openly sharing the PB 560 design information, we hope to increase global production of ventilator solutions for the fight against COVID-19.” So what have they actually released? and is it useful? Perhaps the only thing of real use would be the requirements documents, and only then to a multi-year approved product design effort. And even then you’ve gotta read the permissive license *very* carefully.
