Crews begin removing Stonewall Jackson statue in Richmond, Va.

Crews began removing a statue to Stonewall Jackson Wednesday afternoon, even after a tense city council meeting where interim City Attorney Haskell Brown said the city needs to engage in the process outlined by the state legislature earlier this year. Mayor Levar Stoney disagreed, citing a risk to public safety and a state of emergency declaration which he said gave him the authority to begin removal immediately.
