Creepy? Boston Dynamics releases ’dancing robo-dogs’ video

The world’s most famous purveyor of robotic ‘dogs’, Boston Dynamics, has released another conversation-starting video. To celebrate a partnership with South Korean firm Hyundai, the US company got its ‘Spot’ cyber-hounds to perform an intricate dance routine to ‘IONIQ: I’m On It’ by South Korean boy band BTS. Most people seemed to applaud the undoubtedly impressive technology on display, but for some on social media, it was all a bit scary. Many called the display ‘dystopian’ (remember that bit in ‘Blade Runner ‘when the replicants do a Jackson 5 routine? Us neither) or ‘horrifying,’ with one labeling it an ‘advancement for the police state’. Other true red, white, and blue patriots mourned the fact that more US technology had left their country’s shores (possibly just before they jumped in their Korean cars). But can these worried voices stop the march of these totalitarian death machines? Only if they turn the music off, it seems. Read more:
