Kumite, Application #2 of one arm movement of Infinite shape, Mumbai India 2024 seminar

Asai karate: 浅井空手: 組手、片腕を無限(∞)の形に動かすのを組手に応用その弐, 2024年1月インド講習会 There are two up and two down motions in the infinite shape. This means you have at least two applications for each up and down. In this video, I demonstrated the other application which is similar but slightly different. In the yesterday’s application, I stepped forward with the right leg and used my right arm to block and counter. In today’s application, I stepped forward with the left leg and the left arm to do the application. That means I had to use the other up and down arm motion to do the block and counter. The actual technique is similar. You block with either your Shuto 手刀 or Teisho 底掌 as you raise your arm. Right after the block, bring the arm down in a semi circular motion first then, quickly raise it and turn it into Shuto uchi 手刀打ち into the arm pit, ribs or even the neck. Without stopping the arm, you will bring the arm down in a semi circular motion down to solar plexus, rib or Gedan 下段 (groin) depending on the distance and the angle to the opponent. That is the second counter which is required in this Kumite exercise. We always execute at least two counters. As I had mentioned in the yesterday post, you can continue the motion for the third and fourth counters using the infinite arm movements. Be sure to practice both applications on each arm, which means you need to practice 4 applications (2 with right arm and 2 with left arm). Notes: This direction of the arm is best used for against Jodan oizuki 上段追い突き. The other direction of the arm is for Chudan oizuki 中段追い突き or Mae geri 前蹴り. If you study the different motions you will understand why they are so. At this time, I have not found a video to show the Chudan application. I will post it when I find it. I also do not have the videos of the infinite arm movements and their applications using both arms. I also promise to post them when I find them.
