Bont Cycling’s proprietary heat moldable resin is an in-house development perfected over 36 years of producing high-performing cycling shoes. Bont Cycling shoes can be heat molded at home in a regular oven at relatively low temperatures.
To heat mold your Bont Cycling shoes, pre-heat your oven to 70°C/160° and remove cleats, cleat mounting screws, laces along with your innersoles. Failure to remove innersoles can lead to damage of the innersoles and will not be covered under warranty.
Once at the right temperature, place your shoes in the oven for 20 minutes at 70°C/160°. Higher temperatures will void your warranty and may damage your shoes so if in doubt, check the temperature of your shoes after five minute intervals. When the 20 minutes is up, they should feel warm to the touch but not hot. Remove from over, insert innersoles and place both feet into the shoes while wearing your regular cycling socks. Adjust your BOA dials and/or velcro straps so they are firm but not overly tight as this could deform your shoes.
HEAT MOLDING TIP: If you have any bone protrusions, bunions or are experiencing discomfort in a particular area, use the round end of a screwdriver to press out any part of the shoe that needs adjustment. This can also be achieved by using cotton pads or similar placed under your socks in the trouble areas.
Bont Cycling shoes can be heat molded as many times as you like in order to refine the perfect fit. Keep in mind that it is not essential to heat mold your shoes if they fit straight out of the box.
