Washington: Last night, Deputies were dispatched to the Yelm area for a report of a domestic violence protection order about to occur. The suspect called the victim and told her he was on his way to violate the protection order and sounded impaired on the phone. One of our deputies located the suspect vehicle, which appeared to have already been damaged in a collision. When deputies attempted to stop the car, the driver fled. Deputies initiated a pursuit under new law, which allows deputies to pursue for domestic violence order violations. A deputy conducted two separate PIT maneuvers, with the second PIT being successful. The driver fled on foot and deputies pursued on foot. When the first deputy caught up to the suspect, the suspect quickly turned around and punched the deputy in the mouth, splitting the deputy’s lip open. The second deputy threatened to shoot the suspect with a 40 (less lethal round), however numerous deputies responded and the suspect was placed in the WRAP system... Source: Police frequency
