On 27 September, Israel carried out an apocalyptic bombing attack on Beirut’s southern suburb, killing Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance group Hizballah.
Many civilians were killed in the massive bombing that destroyed multiple residential buildings in the densely populated Dahiya neighborhood.
A towering figure, Nasrallah’s death is a severe blow to supporters of the Axis of Resistance. The strike, praised and supported by the United States, gave Israel a surge of confidence after a year of military failure in Gaza.
We speak to Roqayah Chamseddine i
...n Beirut about Israel’s killing of Nasrallah and the situation in Lebanon as Israel escalates its bombardment of the country and Hizballah defends it against a possible Israeli invasion.
Roqayah is a Southern Lebanese researcher and reporter and co-host of the Delete Your Account podcast.
