His first couture collection, with a classic storyline, was deemed unsuccessful by french press and Karl Lagerfeld dismissed Alexander McQueen as a ‘Damien Hirst type of shock artist.’ ... He stayed with Givenchy for 5 years until March 2001. Jodie Kidd opened the show, Audrey Marnay (in white) and Claudia Mason closed it. .
