Living History (1959)

Colchester, Essex. M/S of 16 inch doll dressed as Madame Pompadour in beautiful lace crinoline dress. M/S Margery Atthill at work on the bust of a model, sitting at home next to the fireside. She picks up a measuring stick and places it against the model. She reaches round and takes some brocade fabric from a cupboard behind her. She puts the brocade over the model, and then picks up a jam jar to beat the pleats of the fabric to soften it into drapes. C/U shot of a drawer being opened which contains small craft items, beads and fringing, and she takes out some beads. She is seen working on a figure of the Duchess of Bedford, stitching beads onto the skirt. She lifts the skirt to reveal detailed red stockings and underclothes. She holds the model upright. C/U shot of the kilt of a figure of Bonnie Prince Charlie, pan up to face. Next is a figure of the Queen Mother, with gold brocade skirt and detailed crown, a Victorian pedlar woman holding a basket with tiny objects, and models of Thomas A Beck
