Sir Austen Chamberlain, British statesman.
MS Chamberlain standing in doorway - smiling and joking, he wears a monocle. Glimpse of photographer in foreground. Next a closer shot of Chamberlain with flower in his lapel, a woman stands next to him. CU Chamberlain with same woman, a young boy and a girl on the left (presumably his wife and children).
American cataloguer’s note: Austen Chamberlain held many various government positions during his long career. This film is probably from the 1920s during that decade he served as Conservative leader of the House of Commons 1921-23 and Foreign Secretary 1924-29, he supported establishment of the Irish Free State; and attended all meetings of Council and Assembly of League of Nations. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Charles G. Dawes in 1925.
