Keir Starmer calls for Gaza ceasefire in speech at Scotland conference

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer called for a “ceasefire that lasts” in Gaza, as he called for an end to the fighting. Speaking at the Scottish Labour conference, he devoted the first portion of his speech to the conflict. It comes after the Scottish Labour conference in Glasgow backed immediate calls for a ceasefire. He warned Benjamin Netanyahu not to extend Israel’s military offensive to Rafah, as he stressed the need for a two-state solution to the violence. Sir Keir also spoke about Scotland’s role in the labour movement, saying “Labour isn’t Labour without Scotland”.
