Raimund Lissy, violinist with the Vienna Philharmonic, has been working for years to rediscover the work of the Viennese composer and violinist Joseph Mayseder (1798-1863). He now presents his fourth CD with works by the Biedermeier composer himself who worked with Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert, and who had achieved great fame in his lifetime and bought a Stadthaus am Neuen Markt for himself and his son-in-law, a jeweler whose descendants still active there today.
