Verdi- La Traviata (Full Score)

0:00- Act I 32:42- Act II 1:37:15- Act III La Traviata is quite literally the most famous opera ever written. You’ve heard the Brindisi at one point or another in your life. If you live in the United States, your local opera house, now matter how (un)famous it is, probably does a production every year. It continues to rivet audiences and enchant the ear. The story is remarkable in that it is NOT entirely historical, at least from the point of composition. It takes place in the early 19th century, and the opera premiered in 1853. However, the censors, who forever pestered the early/middle-era Verdi to no end, did not like this idea, so the setting was changed to the 1700s. As typical with Verdi, the music is intensely descriptive, emotional, and lush with moving melodies.
