Marillion Grendel - End Guitar Solo Cover

Steve Rothery of Marillion is one of the biggest influence on my own guitar playing, and I’ve always loved his solos. This one at the end of Grendel () is a particular favourite of mine and when I did a search there didn’t seem to be many videos showing it being played in enough detail for someone wanting to learn it, so I thought I’d upload my own. It’s not intended as a lesson, nor do I think it’s 100% accurate - I just learned it by ear, so it’s quite likely parts of it are wrong; however, it’s definitely pretty close. If there are any bits I have wrong, do please post a video response to show me what I should be playing. I always enjoy learning and correcting my mistakes. And if anyone does want any of the phrases slowed down or deconstructed, again just post a comment. I never get tired of playing this solo - it’s so melodic and fits the song so beautifully. It owes a lot to Steve’s influences of Hackett/Gilmour and yet frames them in an entirely new way that’s all his own. I hope it inspires people to give Steve’s playing another listen - he’s right up there on the list of most amazing, but often overlooked players.
