India’s Modi prays underwater at ’lost city’s ancient Hindu temple’

Narendra Modi was filmed scuba diving underwater off the coast of Gujarat to visit the sacred Hindu city of Dwarka. Dressed in traditional attire, the Indian prime minister was filmed delving into the water at the Panchkui beach in his home state of Gujarat and praying. He made an offering of peacock feathers. The kingdom of Dwarka, created by the Hindu God Lord Krishna, is said to have sunk beneath the Arabian Sea. It is highly significant in Hindu mythology, and is one of the seven holy pilgrimage sites in India. Mr Modi, who was accompanied by navy divers, said it was a “divine experience“. #india #hindu #dwarka Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months.
