Celebrated trumpeter presents his new album with contemporary hymns. Dave Douglas trumpet, Jon Irabagon saxophone, Marta Warelis piano, Nick Dunston upright bass, Rudy Royston drums For his album Songs of Ascent, Dave Douglas wrote a new kind of psalms, inspired by the eponymous bible book, but not bound to any church or religion. For this project, the famous American trumpet called in the help of his quintet, which he founded around ten years ago. Each musician recorded their contribution from his or her own home. Now they will finally join forces again on stage. Dave Douglas has become a household name in the music world since the 1980s. He recorded hundreds of albums, collaborating with jazz legends such as Hirace Silver, avant-garde players such as John Zorn, and pop stars such as Tom Waits.
