Drag Reduction of an Ahmed Body Using Shape Optimisation Ansys CFX Direct Optimisation Tutorial

In this tutorial we use Ansys Direct Optimisation tool to reduce the drag on an Ahmed body by applying shape optimisation to the front surface and rear stant. The Ahmed body model is created in Design Modeller, the setup and boundary conditions in CFX Pre and post-processing is conducted in CFD-Post. An expression for drag coefficient is created for our target quantity to minimise. The front edge radius and rear slant angle are set as input parameters and are the quantities that are varied to achieve the minimum drag coefficient. Get the files:
