Philodendron Sodiroi Scandal

I bought a philodendron sodiroi one year ago and was excited to see it turning variegated. However leaf after leaf, the plant weakened until the new leaves will not unfurl anymore. I cut the top portion off hoping new branch below will be healthy, but the “variegation“ returned. Upon doing some research, I found hundreds others facing the same problem. Judging from the fact that we are experiencing this at the same time and spread out all over the world, I am deducing that this is tissue culture gone wrong (But I may be wrong). In this video I call to arms awareness (and temporary boycott) of the philodendron sodiroi until suppliers and sellers can ensure healthy plants. Also I hope someone can produce a scientifically sound answer to whats going on so we can all learn from this.
