1983 Ghostbusters Theme (Demo) - Hughes/Thrall & Peter Aykroyd

I’ve long been a huge fan of the original 1984 hit movie, Ghostbusters. So, whenever cutting room floor gems from my favorite movies pop up, it’s honestly like finding buried treasure. In this case, here’s one of the Ghostbusters main theme demos submitted in 1983 by the rock group, Hughes & Thrall along with Peter Aykroyd. Of course, the powers that be went with the Grammy-winning grand slam that was Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters theme, but much like the deleted scenes of a movie, I find unused nuggets like this fascinating. In fact, thanks to commenter @LarryLeeMoniz, I found out this song was later repurposed for the 1987 Tom Hanks & Dan Aykroyd film, Dragnet. To hear that version, visit the link in his comment below.
