The spells are doing mediocre damage because the build is not centered around spellcasting (even though that’s what I did almost the entire fight lol). A sorcerer using the same spells or even a spore druid could have a much easier faster smoother fight. The thing is, to me, wild shaping into an Owlbear is one of the coolest things in this game, but I never saw anybody showing a video soloing Raphael with a Moon Druid build. So I went to the House of Hope to try to accomplish that. Unfortunately the Owlbear is too weak for late game. As you can see towards the end the beast can barely stand up for one turn against Raphael alone, imagine multiple enemies. I kept dying, I even tried spirit guardians with resilient and war caster feats, but there’s no way you can use the Owl for the entire fight. Practically nothing influences and works with wild shape apart from tavern brawler, moonbasking armor and the shapeshifting ring. You have no burst, no crits, no passives from equipments… thus the build doesn’t excel in neither field, can’t get op in wild shape and in the process of trying to achieve that you end up hurting your spellcasting full potential. But that’s ok, I realized only later that wild shape is just temporary hit points. You’re not suppose to play wild shape as your main source of damage and playstyle. You need to think wild shape more like an op false life or shield, is just hp pool meant to be used for attrition and to buy time. And that’s okay otherwise this would be so op that it wouldn’t make any sense to play other class. But I still decided to defeat the boss with this build and post the video. It ended up becoming just a battle of attrition and the job was to kite them down forever. If anything, the one level into fighter and the armor class (24 AC and heavy armor master feat) carried the whole fight. Honestly instead of action surge you could get Cleric for Sanctuary that believe it or not doesn’t get blocked from the Insect Plague damage. Don’t copy this build or the stats unless you’re just hanging around with a party having fun.
